Please reach my team at hello@shawntresparks.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. I hold a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology and have over a decade of clinical experience.
I’m licensed to provide therapy in California. My clinical license is not valid in other states or countries, so clients outside of CA are seen through coaching services only.
Not directly. However, I’ve partnered with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients submit for out-of-network reimbursement. If you qualify, Mentaya can file claims on your behalf to help you get partial reimbursement for your sessions.
Great question. Therapy is a clinical service that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health concerns, resolving trauma, and processing deep emotional wounds. It’s regulated by state licensure boards and bound by specific legal and ethical guidelines.
Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused, action-oriented, and designed to support emotional growth, relational transformation, and strategic life changes. Coaching allows us to work across state lines, integrate holistic tools, and move more fluidly between self-awareness and implementation.
I bring the depth of my clinical background to coaching — but the work is more collaborative, forward-moving, and customized to your goals. Most of my clients are seen through sex and relationship coaching intensives or group programs.
I offer:
Yes, wholeheartedly. I welcome and affirm gender-expansive, sexually diverse, queer, trans, and nonbinary clients and relationships. My practice is rooted in liberation-based, trauma-informed care and is actively inclusive of the full spectrum of identities and experiences.
Absolutely. I proudly support clients in a wide range of relationship formulations, including non-monogamous, polyamorous, open, and fluid relationship structures. My approach is consent-based, nonjudgmental, and affirming of intentional relationship design.
Not at this time. I primarily work with individuals and couples. My focus is on relational optimization— especially for high-achieving women and partnerships seeking more connection, ease, and balance.
Great question — and an important one.
When I’m practicing as a licensed therapist, my role is to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. That means I’m responsible for creating a clinical treatment plan to reduce the impact of emotional or psychological symptoms. It’s focused on healing, safety, and symptom relief — and it’s bound by legal and ethical frameworks that apply to licensed professionals.
When I’m working as a relationship strategist and coach, I don’t assess for mental illness or provide a diagnosis. Coaching is a collaborative process where we focus on where you want to go — your ideal relationship, your ideal self-expression — and build the strategies, habits, and accountability to help you get there. It’s about growth, not treatment.
